Sergeant Cropp joined the Oregon Police Department in January of 2000. Prior to employment with us he worked for the Freeport Police Department. Sergeant Cropp is a certified firearms instructor, field training officer and is also a member of the Ogle County Emergency Response Team..

LIEUTENANT SHAWN MELVILLE

Lt. Melville has recently been promoted to the position of Detective. Sgt. Melville will handle a majority of the Felony and Drug Investigations for the Oregon Police Department. Sgt. Melville is our Field Training Officer Supervisor, a certified firearms instructor, and a gang crime expert.
Sgt. Melville is also a member of the Ogle County Emergency Response Team.

POSITION: CHIEF OF POLICE
I have served the City of Oregon as a police officer for 12 years. I was hired as a full-time officer in 1996. I worked my way through the ranks of the Oregon Police Department. From Patrol Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Detective, Lieutenant, and finally Chief of Police. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from WIU. On June 20th 2008 I completed the requirements and received my Masters of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Northwestern University. I am also a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command #192 where I served as Vice-President of my class.

OFFICER DUANE LINSCOTT
POSITION: Part-time Officer
Officer Duane Linscott has served Oregon as a part-time officer for over twenty years. Officer Linscott is also a master firearms instructor for our department.

Brad comes to us with 15 months of experience from the Polo Police Department. Ofc Cash is currently assigned to Patrol.

Matt is originally from Oregon where he graduated from Oregon High School in 2001. Matt was previously employed as a Correctional Officer with the Ogle County Sheriff's Department.

Officer Wilkinson has over 12 years of law enforcement experience with several of those years in investigations. He brings a lot of skill and knowledge to the Oregon Police Department.

Josh dedicated the last two years of his career serving in the local narcotics task force. We are proud of the work he was able to accomplish while he served.
